If I order sod, how do I know how much to buy?
Ordering sod is simple. First measure the area to be sodded. Take the length of the area and multiply that number with the width of the area. For example: A rectangular area along a side walk that is 30 feet long by 5 feet wide would require 150 square feet.
How long can sod stay on the pallet?
In the cool winter months sod will survive for 3-4 days on the pallet opposed to summer 1-2 days especially over 90 degrees it needs to be put down as soon as possible.
When do I mow my new sod?
When you can take a corner of a piece of sod and you can’t lift it off the ground it is safe to mow sense it has rooted down very well.
How do I prepare my soil for my new sod?
Although sod can be put on existing soil and a bit of grass, that is not a very good practice. The best is to kill all existing weeds and grass then till to a depth of 4″. Make sure the ground is level and drains properly.
